Bilingual Transfer in a private minibus from Puerto Quetzal to La Antigua Guatemala for a Walking Tour, visiting the most important areas of this colonial city, founded in 1543. Here we can shop, see some amazing architecture, visit a Jade museum and have some amazing coffee.
For lunch: We organize a visit to a Mayan Village just outside Antigua, at this place we have a guatemalan meal prepared by the Mayan women, and you will learn to make our delicious corn tortillas.
Then we travel to San Juan del Obispo This small village is one of oldest colonial establishments, with 16th century Indian village and the church and convent have been beautifully restored. The town is located on the lower slopes of Volcano de Auga and is roughly an hours walk from Antigua.
San Pedro las Huertas Another great small village surrounding Antigua. The church of San Pedro las Huertas is large and impressive. Large central plaza with a very large public washbasin, a great place to see locals in there normal daily lives. A great place to get some pictures of something not so touristy.
Ciudad Vieja This is a town that is known for being near the once capital of Guatemala, Santiago de los Caballeros which was destroyed by a mudslide in 1541. This small community of Ciudad Vieja in the coffee-growing countryside outside Antigua has a beautifully restored church and again has a city square that exposes life off the beaten path.
After this tour, we go back to Puerto Quetzal. This transfer will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes to go back to your cruise ship.
